Volunteering Safely in East Riding: Covid 19

Published at 12:00 pm Thu Apr 9th, 2020

A library of resources designed to help volunteers support their neighbours safely during Covid-19.

Introduction:

There has been an amazing response from local communities wanting to ensure their neighbours are not forgotten and getting the help they need.

To support these groups with the resources they need and ensure volunteers are safe, HEY Smile Foundation and East Riding of Yorkshire Council have complied a range of resources within this page and established 9 Community Hubs across East Riding to help broker additional support.

Please take some time to review this information and share with other local groups and volunteers to ensure everyone is safe and no one is forgotten.

East Riding Community Hubs:

There are nine Community Hubs across East Riding, supported by a partnership that includes East Riding of Yorkshire Council, local voluntary groups and HEY Smile Foundation. They are ready to welcome more community groups and facilitate the resources needed. Please get in touch with your local hub to find out more; list of hubs with links to their page are below.

Each hub will have access to care packages, transport provision as well as resources to support local volunteers.

  1. Beverley
  2. Bridlington
  3. Haltemprice
  4. Holme-Upon Spalding Moor
  5. Driffield

Please find below some useful guidance documents for when working alongside the Community Hubs, including safeguarding support.

East Riding Of Yorkshire Council Support Line:

We ask households to maintain safe contact with their family and neighbours to ensure social support continues as well as shared shopping opportunities.

A dedicated local help-line is in place to support individuals who are self-isolating and do not have this support network. East Riding of Yorkshire Council manages the Covid-19 helpline 01482 393919 and email address covid@eastriding.gov.uk

The helpline will link the caller to Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust Social Prescribing Team and if required the closest Community Hub and local volunteers.

When volunteering within your community please promote this service and number.
